 Information about home inspector licensing in New Jersey NJ

Are you aware that unlicensed home inspectors in 
New Jersey are free to do as they please, at your peril?

A. Unlicensed Home Inspectors do not have to follow State of New Jersey Regulations and may operate without insurance or NJ State oversight until December 31, 2005  when Licenses become mandatory.

B. Recently passed changes to the New Jersey Home Inspector Licensing Law allow nearly any person to get a NJ Home Inspector License without ANY education or training as long as they complete 400 inspections December 30, 2005.

As one of the few New Jersey Licensed Home Inspectors I am required to follow NJ State Regulations and to have Errors and Omissions Insurance.

It is your best interest to ask New Jersey home inspection firms you interview, if the individual who will perform your home inspection is NJ licensed.

You should ask to see the inspectors State of New Jersey Home Inspector License and  NJ Issued Photo Identification Card prior to the start of your home inspection. If the inspector can not produce these documents you should stop the inspection and report them by calling (973) 504-6460.
